Animal filmmaker and extreme diver Christina Karliczek takes us into the mysterious world under the ice. In her latest NDR documentary ‘Ghosts of the Arctic’, she portrays rare sea creatures such as ice sharks – which can live up to 500 years – and narwhals, the ‘unicorns of the Arctic’.

For her elaborate filming in the icy waters around Greenland, Karliczek relies on precision – both above and below the water. Leica Sport Optics supports her with the Geovid Pro 10×32 laser binoculars, which not only measure distances, but also record GPS data and transfer it to a navigation system. This enables the wildlife filmmaker to locate animal sites above water and dive specifically at these locations.

Christina Karliczek has made a name for herself with award-winning animal documentaries for the BBC, Disney+, National Geographic and NDR. With perseverance and passion, she films in places where hardly anyone travels – often under the most extreme conditions.
